Professor Lee Waller

I am a Professor of Occupational Psychology, with over two decades of experience working in leadership development

My strongest driver is to support everyone within the workplace to recognise the unique value and contribution that they can make, as a whole individual, to their work. Ensuring people can feel valued, value themselves, and have a sense of belonging at work is at the heart of my work.

In my teaching I specialise in developing self-awareness and intrapersonal skills, supporting leaders to become the best of themselves at work by developing an awareness of their strengths and their individual leadership style.

My teaching includes a range of leadership skills including influencing, coaching, collaboration, developing high performing teams, and diversity and inclusion. Supporting my passion a lot of my work equips leaders with the skills and strategies to develop a team and organisational climate that will maximise team engagement and performance through fostering a culture of learning and psychological safety, supporting the development of a sense of belonging, and developing inclusive leadership behaviours.

Through my work as faculty at Hult EF Corporate Education I work as facilitator, consultant and Program Director with a range of clients including Grundfos, Wartsila, Ericsson, Sysmex, Kuehne+Nagel, DB Schenker, Deutsche Bank, Buhler, Civil Service Learning, Neste and Oxfam. I also run two Open Programs, Impact through Influence and Resilient Leadership.

My impact comes from combining in-depth, research-based expertise, leadership experience, and insights drawn from a comprehensive background in psychology.

Prior to my faculty role I was Director of Research at Hult International Business School, responsible for global delivery of the School’s research strategy. My research areas include belonging and inclusion in the workplace, race equity at work, and the processes involved in adult learning. And I write prolifically in these areas.

In my early career at Ashridge I worked as a Business Development Manager, working with clients to explore the learning needs of their leaders and the strategic objectives of their organisations, supporting faculty in designing learning and development interventions to meet those needs. Prior to joining Ashridge, I worked in publishing as a Publicity Manager, developing marketing and sales tools for the international sales force, and managing a publicity team for a leading academic publisher, Prentice Hall.

I have a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Westminster, a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London, a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Reading, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching. I am also a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, and am qualified in Level A and Level B.

I live in Tring, Hertfordshire with my two daughters, Coral and April and two cats, Maddie and Tux.
